Children’s Community School offers an exciting and affordable nine-week preschool summer program with optional full day care and alternate afternoon pickup times, so families can choose the best fit for their summer plans.
We offer weekly themes, detailed below, complemented by a variety of indoor and outdoor experiences including gardening, sand and water play, and art and science activities.
Children must be toileting independently to move from our year-round toddler program to summer programming. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis with priority given to students currently enrolled and choosing the greatest number of weeks and hours.

Do you have tree bark, twigs, pinecones, insects, snakes or frogs in your lunchbox? Come to CCS this week and find out who does! We will explore our “Naturalist In A Box” series of wild animals and discover who are carnivores or herbivores and other interesting facts as we learn about eating habits, behavior and some of our Wisconsin wildlife.
Bulldozer … Dump Truck … Excavator … Have you ever wondered what these big machines can do? Here is your chance! Come along and we will take a look at some of the big jobs these machines and others can take on. Get out your hard hats as we will be stretching our imaginations with building.
Wear red, white and blue this week as we celebrate our country’s birthday. Learn about the Statue of Liberty and why we fly flags. Join us as we make paper roll firecrackers, patriotic windsocks, flags with our handprints and even flags we can EAT! Happy Birthday, USA!
Have you ever wanted to know what the names of the birds are that we see each day? Join us as together we become aquatinted with some of our most common birds around Wisconsin. Along with this, we will also get to know some of the most unique bugs and how they help us. Get out your binoculars and magnifying glasses. It’s bound to be a real adventure!
Once again we will invite the fairies to visit our backyard by creating fairy houses. We will obey the “rules of the fairies” by using only items from nature such as flowers, leaves, shells, pinecones, nuts, etc. to create the dwellings for these mystical creatures. Last summer the fairies brought us tiny treasures. Will they return again? Come and be a part of the fun and find out!
Come and spend the week with us as we enjoy our favorite outdoor summer activities. We’ll set up a tent for camping and a campfire for making s’mores and singing around. We’ll need our swimsuits for water activities. Come and see our sandbox turn into a lake/beach complete with shells and shovels. We’ll surely need to make trail mix for our hiking and rock climbing adventure! All this fun can be had in our own backyard.
As the children “make” their way through this camp, they will have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of artistic mediums. Painting, woodworking, weaving, mosaics, and nature items will be some of the choices for the children to create a new art project every day. Join us for this variety of “hands-on” fun!
Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a scientist? This week we will discover and explore as we try some different experiments using baking soda and vinegar, working with objects that sink or float, and much more. Come and learn to observe, form theories (what we think will happen) and see what really happens!
Who’s ready to be a chef? After reading books such as The Runaway Pancake, If You Give A Mooses A Muffin and Tops And Bottoms, we will be ready to put on our aprons and head to the kitchen. Join us as we cook and bake some very delicious culinary treats which may include vegetables grown in our backyard garden.
