Montessori is not a system for training children in academic studies, nor is it a label to be put on educational materials. It is a revolutionary method of observing and supporting the natural development of children.
Montessori educational practice helps children develop concentration, coordination, independence, positive self-esteem, creativity, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. It aims to inspire children to become good citizens who contribute to society and the environment, and to become fulfilled persons in their particular time and place on Earth.
The basis of Montessori practice is uninterrupted, individual work in an aesthetically pleasing classroom with an emphasis on respect for the individual and the environment. Small group lessons are also provided by teachers for children at varying developmental stages.
Children’s Community School is dedicated to providing a nurturing and challenging Montessori preschool environment for children ages 18 months to 6 years old in which children explore the world and their place in it through hands-on learning experiences and positive social interactions that reinforce the knowledge and skills essential for independent thinking, resourceful problem-solving, active citizenship, and life-long learning.
At Children's Community School, students are guided through individualized curriculum; they develop at their own pace through sequenced learning experiences in carefully prepared indoor & outdoor classroom environments.
Children's Community School staff work hand in hand with our families to ensure children receive the best possible experience.
Our staff are supported in this mission by our volunteer Board of Directors; the school is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Children's Community School is a member of the American Montessori Society and is a Mount Horeb Area School District 4K partner.
