About Children’s Community School

Providing Montessori education since 1976

The Montessori Way

Montessori is not a system for training children in academic studies, nor is it a label to be put on educational materials. It is a revolutionary method of observing and supporting the natural development of children.

Montessori educational practice helps children develop concentration, coordination, independence, positive self-esteem, creativity, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. We aim to inspire children to become good citizens who contribute to society and the environment, and to become fulfilled persons in their particular time and place on Earth.

The basis of Montessori practice is uninterrupted, individual work in an aesthetically pleasing classroom with an emphasis on respect for the individual and the environment. Small group lessons are also provided by teachers for children at varying developmental stages. As you read through these pages, you will discover the unique practices of the Montessori Method.

Mission Statement

Children’s Community School is dedicated to providing a nurturing and challenging Montessori preschool environment for children ages 18 months to 6 years old in which children explore the world and their place in it through hands-on learning experiences and positive social interactions that reinforce the knowledge and skills essential for independent thinking, resourceful problem-solving, active citizenship, and life-long learning.

Our Approach To Education

Montessori is an educational approach believing that children learn best within an environment that respects and nurtures their individual, unique potential. Children at CCS are guided through individualized curriculum; they develop at their own pace through sequenced learning experiences provided in a carefully prepared classroom environment. CCS staff strive to work hand in hand with our families to ensure children receive the best possible experience.
